About This Project

The CSUSB Black Experience project was designed to address a recognized gap in the University Archives’ holdings that contain little documentation of the contributions and experiences of Black students, faculty, and staff at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). As a starting point in addressing this shortcoming in the University Archives, the project captured documentation of students, influential figures, notable events, and milestones from CSUSB’s Black community that have been preserved in university publications and campus historical photographs. The materials uncovered during this project form the basis of the "Strengthening The Pack: Black Leadership & Legacy at CSUSB" digital exhibit, and work continues on this front to generate additional content for the exhibit.

This project was supported in-part by a CSUSB Office of Academic Research Faculty Professional Development Grant (2021).
