This digital exhibit represents ongoing research into the Black experience at CSUSB from 1965, when the university first opened its doors, through present day. Much of the information presented in this exhibit comes from campus publications such as the Coyote Chronicle student newspaper (and its predecessors) and the Friday Bulletin campus newsletter, along with related materials housed in the University Archives. These resources were used to identify notable people from CSUSB’s Black community, events held on-campus that showcase/honor Black excellence, and milestones achieved by Black students, faculty, and staff. This exhibit is designed to showcase the Black experience at CSUSB, ensuring that this history is preserved and presented in a way that honors the contributions of the university’s Black community.
